Cory's Story
Cory is a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran and Life Skills Coach serving the Tampa Bay area.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Purdue University Global and brings a strong background in health, wellness, leadership, and client-centered support to his work with Veterans and individuals living with brain and neurological injuries.
Cory served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps infantry, completing two combat deployments to Iraq. During his second deployment, Cory sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) from an improvised explosive device (IED). His own journey following brain injury gives him a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges Veterans may experience while rebuilding routines, relationships, confidence, independence, and a meaningful life after injury.
Cory also brings professional experience in health and fitness, including a leadership role with Bally Total Fitness, where he trained staff, supported clients, and promoted health and wellness through movement. His diverse background has strengthened his skills in mentoring, program development, wellness, and helping individuals establish structure and work toward meaningful goals.
As a Life Skills Coach, Cory takes a trauma-informed, goal-driven approach that combines patience, encouragement, accountability, and structure. He is passionate about helping Veterans and individuals with TBI and other neurological conditions strengthen independence, increase community participation, develop healthy routines, and build confidence in everyday life. Cory also values collaboration with families, clinicians, case managers, and community partners to support continuity of care.
Outside of work, Cory enjoys staying active in the gym, playing acoustic guitar, and spending time near the beach.
